FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will the book be out? How do I get one?

The Beast of Wolfe's Bay is currently available on Amazon.com and is available from comiXology, iBookstore, and for Kindle, Nook and more. It is carried by Diamond Comic Distributors, first appearing in comic shops June 19, 2013.

What inspired you to do this?

I wanted to tell a few different stories — I wanted to modernize Beowulf, I wanted to tell a story about academia, and I wanted to tell a story about Sasquatch. So I kind of rolled those ideas around in my head for a while, and this just sort of came out. I also love watching stuff like Ghostbusters, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the X-Files, all of which influenced this book in some small way.

Is this book about a bunch of idiots trying to find Bigfoot?

More like a bunch of scientists trying to find Bigfoot. But it's a lot more fun than you think, according to everyone.

How long does it take you to draw a page?

If I'm really on a roll, I can bang out 2 or 3 pages in a day. But that doesn't include coloring, or the time it took to write a page of script. So, the short answer is, it depends.

What other comics stuff have you done?

Gods of Asgard (graphic novel)
Super-powered Word Study (comics-based textbook)
Erik's Sketchbook Diary (web comic, trade paperback)
ZombieBomb! (comic anthology)
Johnny Raygun (backup stories & pinup art)
Invincible (pinup art)
Grounded (pinup art)
Fear Agent (pinup art)

Who is working on this with you?

Matt Talbot helped me with letters, and Jeff Fugelsang assisted me with color flats. My wife helped me work out a few of the trickier story beats. I am the writer, penciler, inker, and colorist.

What other things do you do?

I am a graphic designer, illustrator, and all-around creative person. I teach, whenever people let me.

Hey, this plot sounds a little like Beowulf...

You're not wrong.

Why does the print copy cost what it costs?

As a small press book, it has to cost a couple bucks more than the average graphic novel because it costs nearly that much to print it in color. I assure you, I am NOT getting rich off of the book! If you like, Amazon seems to put it on sale quite frequently.
